Egyptian Symbol Tattoos

Egyptian symbol tattoos are fast becoming a popular choice for people today. I guess the reason being for this is because Egyptian symbols look very cool and not only that have meanings that create more than just an attractive tattoo. Common Egyptian symbols represent protection, wealth, the underworld and gods (who also have their specific meanings), and I will list some now and what they mean.

Amenta
This symbol represents the underworld however it originally meant the sun setting. The sun would set over the West Bank of the Nile where the Egyptians would also bury their dead; hence it's meaning being related to the land of the dead. As a tattoo this would look good across the shoulder blades, on the shoulder or over something you believe strongly in.

Ankh
Known as the Crux Anasta the Ankh was the "key of life" and is one of the most recognised symbols of Ancient Egypt. The ankh is depicted as a symbol that passes the breath of life onto people who are passing to the underworld. Ankh tattoos are generally on the ankle, wrist, shoulder and sometimes on the chest. It is a good symbol tattoo to have because it looks great and holds the meaning of long life.
