The Guangzhou Museum is housed in a 5 story pagoda. This tower was built during the Ming Dynasty and provides some of the most inspiring views of the entire city. The structure was first built in 1380 by Zhu Liangzi, a powerful member of the provincial nobility to demonstrate his power. Later the tower was merged in to the city’s wall to become a watchtower. However, now this building stands on its own 28 meters high and has artifacts relating to the history of Guangzhou from prehistoric times to the early part of this century. The upper most floor houses a caf? and a selection of shops selling souvenirs and traditional items.

Guangzhou has something both revolutionary and historical in these two museums, a walk through the past and a glimpse in to the creative minds of the future.
