Some of us have heard about Reiki symbols and meanings. Reiki is something we all have the potential to do because it all consists of being aware of energy. Here is a simple way to explain it. You know the feeling, sometimes you meet someone, - your sisters' new boyfriend or a co-worker, and you can't explain it, but you just don't like their 'vibes'. Nothing they do or say actually seems bad, but you get a feeling around them that you just can't shake. Or how about when you are at a club, music pumping, dancing and you feel on a high and are the life of the party or when you and sick and feeling so sorry for yourself and depressed that people know to stay far away lest they incur your wrath. Don't worry, its not just you. Communicating through vibrations is an age old technique and is the first step to healing others and yourself.
Healing through vibrations or 'spirit' is said to have started with the Vedas- the oldest writings known to man, and commonly mistaken for a Hindu spiritual text. Today, this method is called Reiki- a Japanese word meaning 'universal life energy.' The essence of this healing method is based in the acknowledgement that the whole universe is made up of patterns of energy which can consist of low or high vibrations. Thoughts can affect those vibrations in the body, which is why people who take part in daily meditation feel a physical change when done correctly.
Reiki channels universal energy in order to harmonise the mind body and spirit through the seven chakras, or energy points in the body. Sacred symbols believed to either have originated from the Vedas or from a Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui can be used to enhance this flow of energy during a healing. Each symbol represents specific metaphysical energies that are attuned to the Reiki practitioner. Like study flashcards the symbols are Vedic triggers to the memory on all levels of consciousness, allowing access to higher levels of awareness and manifestation.
