The four most prominent Reiki symbols are:

Cho Ku Rei ("Place the power of the universe here")

This power symbol can increase the energy of a healing from the strength of a candle light to a strobe light. While it can be used to heal negative energies in a room or area, it is specifically designed for the physical body. The patterning for this symbol is also reminiscent of sacred geometry known as the Fibonacci sequence. This predictable number sequence creates a harmonious pattern which resonates with human energy.

Draw this symbol on your palm in the morning and envision yourself imbued with an energy burst for the day

Sei He Ki ("God and man become one")

This symbol offers protection, purification and clearing. It is used to treat people with mental and emotional problems and works well when the cause of the disease is rooted in the subconscious mind such as with persistent feelings of anger, resentment and sadness. Affirmations are useful treatments when the body manifests disease from continual emotional and mental patterns. This symbol enhances the effectiveness of those affirmations and helps to calm the mind in order to overcome depression, anxiety and stress. It is also a powerful balancing tool like the Yin and Yang and therefore is very useful in healing issues that stem from relationship problems.

Draw the symbol on a page of a textbook or study notes as you read it and it can aid you in improving your memory.

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen ("No past, no present, no future")

This symbol defies time and space. It is said to create access to the "Akashic Records", the life records of each soul in order to perform karmic healing where karmic patterns have manifested as disease. Therefore it can be used to heal problems from the past, whether it be this lifetime or the last, or to store good energy for the future. Another interpretation of its meaning is "The Awakened heart in me, contact the Awakened heart in you" so this symbol can be used to perform a distance healing where the patient and the practitioner are separated by physical distance.

Draw this symbol on a picture of a friend or family member who is ill and visualise healing light being sent to them.

Dai Ko Myo ("The Shining Light of the Awakened Heart")

This is a Master symbol. It is deeply connected to the souls spiritual journey and its awakening. It can be used for healing of the soul and the expansion of wisdom and clairvoyance. There are two forms of this symbol, and while both are very powerful it is said that the modern spiral version is more appropriate for the vibrations and Reiki of this time. It also features the prominent Fibonacci geometry of the 'Cho ku rei.' Some still prefer the traditional version as it has been handed down from teacher to student over the ages. This symbol is also often used as an all-in-one healer for general healing sessions to remove pain and negativity, but is perhaps best used in conjunction with another tool to focus on specific problem areas.

Picture this symbol in your mind first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and allow it to act as a conductor to expand your intuition everyday.

Trust your 'vibes' and next time you're in bed with the flu try not to reach for the pills, and go get a Reiki healing instead! "Good Vibrations" is more that a Beach Boys chart topper, it's a blend of science and spirituality that can heal your world.
