These eight symbols are popular representations that are followed by the followers of Buddhism with great dedication. It was relevant hundreds of years ago and it is as relevant today also.

The eight Buddhism Symbol that are revered and held with great respects by it followers have meanings that significance to each and every Buddhists. These symbols are the Endless Knot, Golden Fishes, Lotus, Om Mani Padme Hum, Parasol, Swastika, Triratna and Varada Mudra. These symbols are especially important in Theravada Buddhist countries like Sri Lanka and Thailand. As the religion spread, its symbolism was further enriched by the different cultures of the particular areas. If you look at Buddhism in Tibet, it has a rich symbolic tradition. The eight auspicious symbols is also known as Ashtamangala (ashta meaning eight and mangala meaning auspicious) in Sanskrit.
